My counsellor training and experience began with Parentline in Christchurch in the late 1970’s. In 1984 I began a Social Science degree at the University of Waikato, majoring in Psychology. This was followed by a Masters degree in Counselling. Aside from Parentline Christchurch my work contexts, as a Counsellor, have been at the Hamilton Women’s Centre, the Student Counselling Service at the University of Waikato and Private Practice.

I feel extremely fortunate to be engaged in work I feel passionate about. It is a privilege to work with people on issues which are significant for them and to journey with them towards their desired outcomes. I have also been fortunate to work with people from diverse cultural backgrounds.

I have been a Full Member of NZAC since 1989 and take my Professional Membership very seriously. I hold a current Practicing Certificate.
In accordance with the NZAC Code of Ethics, all Counsellors, regardless of how long they have been in practice, are required to attend regular supervision to help ensure safe practice and to assist in the ongoing development of our work. I have fortnightly supervision for my counselling and supervision practice.

I was born and raised in the Waikato and lived in Christchurch for four years before returning to Hamilton where I live with my partner. I am a mother of two adult children. Their partners have enriched our family life with their diverse cultural heritage. Becoming a Grandmother has added a further dimension to my life.
